Don’t Stop Till You Get It Done
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Chronicles 28:20
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.”
O-bservation:
Building a temple for the Lord was always in King David’s heart to accomplish. He had set aside over a billion dollars for the building. Yet shortly before he spoke these words to his son Solomon, the Lord had told David that he wasn’t going to build the temple. That would be a job for the King’s son, Solomon. David had too much blood on his hands from previous wars. David reframed his vision and laid it on his son and told him, “The Lord will Help you build the temple, Don’t Stop Till You Get It Done.”
A-pplication:
How many times have you felt impressed that you were supposed to do a particular thing, or perhaps even start a movement of some kind, but once into it you thought, “This is just too much?” I know that’s happened to me more than once. There’s a couple of reasons this happens. One is that we don’t actually sit down and count the cost before we plunge in. Once in, we realize that we can’t pull it off. But there’s another reason. The reason I speak of is that we get weary, and forget that God is with us. David said to Solomon, “God is with you so make sure you stay on the job.” That is a truth you and I must remember every day. Our work is our worship, and God lives in our praise and worship. So remember, “Don’t Stop Till You Get It Done!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m so thankful this AM that You have promised to never leave me or forsake me. Consequently, with Your help, I’ll stay on the job till I get it done! Amen
