Don’t Judge Me!
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 15:35
They conceive trouble and give birth to evil; their womb fashions deceit.
O-bservation:
Now it was, once again, Eliphaz’s turn to weigh in on Job’s troubles. Somehow, he looked at his friend and judged him as a wicked man. He described to Job what he (Eliphaz) saw an evil man to be like. He said that all evil people do is to conceive trouble and give birth to evil.
A-pplication:
It’s really hard to believe that a true friend would say this about his friend. I have no doubt that Eliphaz had defined a truly evil person correctly, it’s just that he would then take his definition of evil and pin it on his friend Job! Always remember when someone is judging you for something you’re not guilty of that they are in fact covering up that very thing in their own life. Here’s what St. Paul had to say about such judgers of people, “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things” (Romans 2:1). Ouch! But if you’re like me, you think back to people who have done that to you and you think, “Yep, Paul was spot on!” So the next time someone judges you for something you had nothing to do with, it’s ok to look at them and say, “Don’t Judge Me!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me to be a forgiver and not a judger! I know there are times when I need to personally judge a person’s character before placing them in a position of leadership, but I don’t want to be, “That Judgmental Person!” Amen
