Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need.
Here the great Psalmist cries for God Almighty’s intervention on behalf of his people, Israel. He knew that Israel had embraced idol worship and evil activity in the past, but he begged the Lord not to hold it against them for they were in “DESPERATE NEED.”
We are living, as has been stated by many modern-day prophets, in a “Post Christian Era” in North America and the Western world. Yes, we have many sins and failures in both our past and present; however, today all of us who call upon the name of the Lord must pray this prayer of the Psalmist: “Lord don’t hold these things against us, because we as a people are in “DESPERATE NEED.” The amazing thing about such a prayer at such a time as this is that most folks don’t think we have any needs at all. The only thing they think they need is more money. But it was Jesus who said in the Revelation of the Church at Laodicea, the people of whom believed that they were rich, had acquired great wealth, and were in need of nothing, that they were actually, “Wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked” (Rev. 3:17). WOW! Those perspectives are polar opposites. But I will always stand with my Savior’s perspective when it comes to being on the other side of the world’s perspective. Consequently, I will stand with the Psalmist this AM and ask the Almighty for help, because we are in “DESPERATE NEED!”
As the old song goes, “I need Thee, oh I need Thee. Every hour I need Thee. Oh bless me now my Savior, I come to Thee.” Amen
