Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.
King David detailed his greatest emotions in this chapter of the book of Psalms. He went from hungering and thirsting after God, to weeping day and night, to shouting with joy as he entered the temple, to wondering why his soul was at the bottom of life, to wondering if God had forgotten him altogether. All in this one chapter. But in this verse, he says, “I know my God is with me, Day And Night.”
This is one of my favorite chapters in the entire Bible. If there has ever been a chapter that I feel I could have personally written it would have to be Psalm 42. That’s how much I empathize with King David in his writing. Why? I guess because of all the emotions in one chapter. It’s ME! I hate to admit that at my age there’s still a plethora of emotions that I experience in my relationship with the Lord. One of my favorite questions is “Why God, Why?” I’m tired of asking that for this long! But, hey, I’m His kid. Children can never figure out their parents when they’re young. When it comes to my Heavenly Father, He’s past finding out. So I’ll keep asking why, and where are You, and do You love me? And I’ll also run toward Him, and cry to Him, and shout for joy about Him, and tell everyone I know about Him. And I’ll do that “Day And Night!”
You’ve got me right where You want me. You’ve got me longing for more of You. “Day And Night!” Amen
