Cut Me Free, Lord
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 129:4
But the Lord is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.
O-bservation:
These words of the Psalmist were spoken as if Israel had been tied with ropes to her adversaries, much like oxen are tied to the plowman. It was allowed by God for a period of time to teach His people, but eventually, He (The Lord) cut them free from their oppressors.
A-pplication:
This AM, let’s talk about you and me as it relates to this passage. I know in times past in my own life, there have been chains that held me back from making positive forward progress. Some of it was self-inflicted, as in the “lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (1 John 2:16), but other issues that I had little control over also held me back. Some of those things included infirmities, family issues, and finances. Because God is righteous, He allowed me to go through some battles to test my faith. What about you today? Do you feel as if you are tied to something that is controlling? Does it appear to you that as hard as you try, you’re still chained? Today, I believe the Lord will help you just like He has helped me. You can start this AM by simply praying, “Cut Me Free, Lord.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m so grateful that You have “Cut Me Free” from so many entanglements over the years that held me back. Today I ask that You help my friend who is reading this prayer right now. Amen
