Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
The Apostle Paul explained that under Jewish law, a man was to be circumcised right after birth. But the truth is that it was only an outward sign of the fact that he was a Jew in his heart. Likewise, if “Circumcision of the Heart” never occurs by the power of the Holy Spirit, what good is it if we have all kinds of outward regulations that we adhere to? The true man or woman of God is living for God in their heart. From the inside out.
I was raised with lots of rules and regulations as a young boy growing up in my Pentecostal father’s home. We didn’t do this or that. We weren’t allowed to go here or there, but we had to do this and go there. Oh, I lived the outward regulations to a tee. However, I did not rebel against my father and mother for two reasons. First, I knew my mom and dad lived for Jesus in their hearts. It really was a life for the Lord. Second, I had a real experience as an adolescent that let me know that Jesus was real, and I served the Lord from my heart first. Because I knew Jesus was in my heart, I went with all the outward “Circumcision” types of religious regulations. In time I let go of many of the regulations, but I never let go of the Lord. Because of that, I’ll always be a proponent of “Circumcision Of The Heart!”
Somehow You led me through all the rules and regulations of my early Christian walk and helped me focus on being a Christian in my heart first. Thank You, Jesus! Amen
