Bless Those Who Believe In Jesus, Having Never Seen Him

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

John 20:29

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Jesus had just encountered Thomas, one of His disciples, after He had resurrected. Thomas had said, “Unless I see the nail prints in Your hands and feet, I will not believe.” Jesus showed them to Thomas, and Thomas said, “My Lord And My God.” Jesus said, “Blessed are those who have not seen, yet still believe.”

It’s pretty easy to believe in a horse if you’re looking at a horse. It’s pretty easy to believe in a car if you’re riding in a car. But to believe in a God you have never seen? That’s called faith. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb. 11:6). Our precious Savior honors those who reach to Him in faith having never seen Him. Why? Because when Thomas would only believe if there was physical proof, Jesus knew that after He was gone He’d never be able to show His hands and feet to anyone again. That’s why He said, and You and I receive it, “Bless Those Who Believe In Jesus, Having Never Seen Him.”

Dear Jesus,

Even though I have never seen You face to face, I know You are there and here right now. In my daily prayer I talk with You and you speak to me. I believe in You even though I’ve never seen You. Amen

  1. “How can I believe in something I’ve never seen?” is usually the question associated with the declaration they do not believe God exists. Yet, we all believe, and in fact trust in, that which they have not seen all the time, every day. Whether it be the oxygen we breathe, gravity, nutrition, electricity, wi-fi, and everything else we put absolute confidence in that we don’t see. Willing accept the word written by people about history and science; unwilling to accept anything written by people about God. When it comes to belief in God… NOPE… not willing to go there. “I need evidence… prove it.”
