Anxious Thoughts
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 139:23
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
O-bservation:
This passage indicates that David wanted his Heavenly Father to strip away anything the King was using to cover things up in his life that he didn’t want his Lord to know about. King David asked the Lord to search him and know his heart. He then asked God to test him and know his “Anxious Thoughts.”
A-pplication:
“Anxious Thoughts” are those thoughts that keep us troubled. They keep us from going deeper into our relationship with the people we love and who love us the most. However, the greatest problem that Anxious Thoughts pose is that they keep us from a deeper relationship with our Lord. Worry should have no place in the life of the believer, yet even as I make that statement, it’s difficult for me to divorce myself from Anxious Thoughts. The hope this AM is that, like David, we would ask the Lord to call us on our Anxious Thoughts. That’s what David was saying when he said, “Test me and know my Anxious Thoughts.” Once God calls them out in our life, we can begin to find the peace we long for.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I give You full authority to call me out on the “Anxious Thoughts” I’ve been entertaining. I know that You are the only one who can bring the peace I long for. Amen
