Always And For Now
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we live by faith and not by sight.
O-bservation:
This passage comes on the heals and in the middle of St. Paul’s discussion concerning our desire to be free of this earthly body and be clothed in our heavenly bodies. Our earthly bodies represent an earthly home that is foreign to the true believers’ real desires. Paul said we actually GROAN to be united with our heavenly home. Then suddenly, he reminds us all, “For we live by faith and not by sight!”
A-pplication:
In reading the passage this AM, I immediately thought of this line, “Always And For Now!” At first, I was going to say always and forever because that is the title of a very popular song that I listened to as a younger man. Then I was stopped as I wrote because as I thought of my faith, it’s not faith forever. It’s faith for NOW until we shed these earthly bodies to be clothed with heaven’s apparel. Once there, the testing of my faith and yours will have ended, and it will be a 100% total and forever faith that God will grant us. Our faith right NOW is faith because of the daily grind of believing without seeing, but one day soon, the daily grind will be over, and the joy of eternity and ruling and reigning with our Lord and Savior forever will have just begun. But for NOW, we live by FAITH every day until we are FOREVER home on the other side.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
My faith is “Always And For Now!” because I want to be free of life’s earthly grind. But one day, my faith will be forever with You in heaven. The grind will be over, and the eternal joy of ruling and reigning with you will be the joy of every believer’s collective eternity! Amen.
