Desiring Goodness Moving Forward In Faith!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

2 Thessalonians 1:11

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.

St. Paul wanted the young church at Thessaloniki to know that he had them in his prayers. He desired that they would be worthy of the calling the Lord had placed on their life. Not only that, but he wanted their desires for goodness to become a reality in their lives, as well as all of their deeds to be motivated by faith.

As I was reading this passage this AM, I had to stop and think to myself, “Are all of my desires, desires to be good and do good things? Are all of my deeds motivated by faith?” Remember, it was the same Apostle Paul who told the Roman Church that if it is not done in faith, it is done in sin (Rom. 14:23)! But I know I have selfish motives at times, and I know there are times when I’d like to “get back” at those who have harmed me. Yet Paul clearly states that he is praying for those people the exact opposite of what I sometimes do! What can we do then? Probably the best thing to do today and every day is to start your day with the prayer, “Jesus, I may not be perfect, but I’m starting my day with you, Desiring Goodness Moving Forward In Faith.”

Dear Jesus,

As I said, I’m starting my day with You, “Desiring Goodness, Moving Forward In Faith!” Amen
