S-cripture:
2 Samuel 11:27c
But the thing David had done displeased the Lord.
O-bservation:
This is the sad, sad story of King David’s adultery with Uriah’s wife while Uriah was away at battle. David stayed home and had an affair with Bathsheba. She later told him she was pregnant. It’s quite a story, but truth be told David had one of his “Mighty Men,” Uriah, killed in battle, and then had Bathsheba move in with him to cover the sin. But God sees all things, and God was displeased with the sin of David.
A-pplication:
God’s always looking from all angles. That’s why it’s imperative to be on guard for the enemy’s attack. David’s central problem was that he was tired of winning. That’s all He did—win. One day he sent his men off to war while he stayed in Jerusalem. That was his first mistake. Then he looked upon Bathsheba while she bathed and they finally had sex. Be on guard when you’ve been winning a lot. When you are winning, pride can enter directly into your soul and victories go to your head. David finally came forward with his sin; he confessed it and moved on!! Bathsheba’s son died, but God had an even better future in mind to give them another son named Solomon, who became the wisest King in Israel’s history. And beyond his sin, God had a continual plan for David, just like He does for you and me. Only YOU can make up your mind today. Just say … “I will Decide to please the LORD!”
