Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Thessalonians 5:5
You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
O-bservation:
St. Paul reminded the Thessalonian church, as well as us, that we have ALL been called out of darkness and into God’s marvelous light. So it would be foolish for any of us to hang out in the darkness and desire the night. We are … “Daylight People.”
A-pplication:
When you were a little kid, did you ever camp out in your back yard with friends? I know I sure did, and the number one item we carried was a flashlight. It didn’t matter if there were two of us in the tent or six, everyone had a flashlight. We could turn any “Camp Out Tent” into “High Noon,” no matter how dark it was or how late it was. Why? Because little kids are not fond of the dark. The Bible says, “People love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil” (Jn. 3:19b). Did you hear that? People love darkness, NOT little kids. The innocence of a child craves the light; the sin of an adult enjoys the darkness. Somehow people think it’s easier to cover their failures in the dark. However, Jesus wants to cover our failures 24/7 by His Divine grace. That’s why Paul said get out of the night and the dark, because you have been called to be “Daylight People.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know I need sleep and the “Dark” is a good place to find rest. But I must say it’s so good to see the light of a brand new day, each day! Thank You that You called me to be one of Your “Daylight People.” Amen
