A Place To PEE

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Kings 10:27 They demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple of Baal, and people have used it for a latrine to this day.

O-bservation:

A man named Jehu, who had been anointed by Elisha, began to carry out God's will and eventually ruled Israel as King. One day Jehu struck down King Ahab’s wife Jezebel. Ahab had already been killed in battle. Then he killed 70 of Ahab's sons. Then he killed Ahaziah King of Judah. While he was destroying Baal’s temple, he crushed the stone Baal. Since he demolished the stone and tore down all the walls of the temple, the Bible says people have used that location as a latrine, urinal, or "A Place to Pee" ever since.

A-pplication:

Any time you try to take the place of Almighty God by replacing Him with some dead piece of stone, and have it reproduced to sit on people's kitchen tables, you are daring God to respond. In fact, in this case God responded by destroying King Ahab's lifeless stone god known as Baal, and Baal’s temple, and turned them both into a literal Pee-Hole. When God said, "You shall have no other gods before me” (Ex.20:3), He wasn't kidding. God will share His glory with no one. He loves everyone as His own, but He won't share His glory. When God sent His associate Jehu in to clean up the mess, Jehu blew it up and turned it into a permanent "Place To PEE!" Remember dear friend, there's only one God and His name is Jesus. Anything else is just toilet trash!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm thankful that I serve the only true and wise God, Jesus. He has made a way for me where there is no way. Amen

Legacy Wasn’t On His Radar

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Chronicles 21:20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

O-bservation:

Jehoram was a 32-year-old King of Judah. He succeeded his father Jehoshaphat who was a great leader and loved the Lord. But Jehoram immediately had all of his brothers killed, instituted the ways of Israel under the wicked King Ahab, and even married one of Ahab's daughters. He reigned for eight years in Judah and when he died the Bible says, "No One Regretted It."

A-pplication:

At the end of the day the question will always be ... "Did you train leaders?” Did you prepare the next generation? Did you live to continue your faith or did you live to continue YOU? Those of us who are committed to our faith and the propagation of the Gospel until the Lord’s soon return must do everything in our power to ensure that Biblical Truth and the Faith upon which we stand is securely entrusted to those who follow behind us. Anything less would suggest, "Legacy Isn't On Our Radar." That is certainly the conclusion we arrive at in the life of Jehoram. He lived for himself and his own interest and God took him out for such selfishness. "Legacy Wasn't On His Radar!" It's a Big World and Future out there. Let's run to it and bring as many with us as possible to take our place when it's our time to leave.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, If there is any striving in me today, may it center on preparing the next generation to "Lead People To JESUS!" Amen

Praise Brings Peace

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Chronicles 20:30 And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God had given him rest on every side.

O-bservation:

From the time Jehoshaphat took over as king of Judah from his Father Asa, there was victory in Judah. Scripture says the reason for the victory was, "The Lord was with him because he walked in the ways of his forefather David, and he didn't serve foreign gods but only the God of Israel." Yes there were issues in Jehoshaphat's life, but at the end of his life there was PEACE in Judah.

A-pplication:

Why the PEACE? Probably the best thing any of us can do is to leave things better than we found them. Whether it's a messy room we enter or a messy nation we someday lead, our goal should be: "Real leaders make things better not worse!" That was the pursuit of Jehoshaphat. His father, Asa, was a great example to him as a Father but failed at the end of his rulership in Judah. It must've been in Jehoshaphat’s mind and heart to improve things when he became King of Judah. On one occasion, the army of Judah had to face an impossible task of fighting the combined Moabite and Ammonite armies. These nations were bigger and stronger than Judah. But after receiving a word from the Lord, Jehoshaphat marched his army out against his enemies singing songs of PRAISE to God!! God turned Judah's enemies on themselves and Judah won. The next time you're up against a huge foe, begin to PRAISE the Lord. Why? Because ... "Praise Brings Peace." You will leave the place better than you found it after Praising.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I already know my plan of attack today. With Your help I will PRAISE my way, all the way to PEACE. Amen

Keep Acting On Your Faith

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Kings 4:35 Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.

O-bservation:

Years earlier, Elisha had prophesied that this Shunammite woman would have a son. The woman and her husband had built a room for the Prophet to stay in and the Prophet wanted to bless her. Sure enough, a year later the boy was born. Fast-forward about 12 years and one day while working in the field with his Father the boy evidently had a heat stroke and died. Elisha was far away, so the Shunammite woman raced on her animal with an employee to find him. When she found him, Elisha sent his servant Gehazi to run ahead with his staff and lay the staff on the boy. It didn't work. When Elisha and the Shunammite woman arrived the boy was still dead. Elisha got up on the boy and breathed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in him but nothing happened. So Elisha walked around the room and got back up on the boy and did mouth to mouth resuscitation again and the boy sneezed seven times and came back to life!

A-pplication:

The power of this miracle is that Elisha just "Kept Acting On His Faith!" At first he had his associate take his staff back to lay it on the dead boy’s body while he and the woman followed behind. That didn't work! So when he arrived and found the boy still dead, he got up on the boy’s body and gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. That didn't work either. But he didn't quit. A second time he got up on the boy’s body and gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and this time the boy came back to life! "Keep Acting On Your Faith." When all else fails, don't give up whatever you do! Try something else or a do the same thing again and again. But ... "Keep Acting On Faith!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I will pledge to You that I won't give up today. With Your help I WILL ... "Keep Acting On My Faith!" Amen

Shipwrecked Faith

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Timothy 1:19 Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.

O-bservation:

St. Paul spoke as an aged preacher of the gospel to his young disciple Timothy and said, "I am commanding you to hold onto your faith and a strong conscience, which some have rejected and their faith has been shipwrecked!"

A-pplication:

At one time or another, all of us have faced weariness in our faith. In other words, faith can get tired if we're not fueling it every day with personal devotion and prayer. When we allow tired faith to take over, laxness sets in to our way of thinking. The conscience becomes weakened to sin’s temptation. Now our conscience goes from being strong to being lazy. In time, tired faith and a lazy conscience leave folks with "Shipwrecked Faith." Has your life with Jesus become "Ho-Hum?" Are you bored with living? Please, today, awaken out of your slumber. Really! Wake up! It's dangerous when you sail so close to the shoreline. If you're not careful you can become dashed upon the rocks of COMPROMISE. This world is filled with people who failed to contend or fight for their faith. They in turn got lazy in their conscience and today they have experienced ... "Shipwrecked Faith." But that will not happen to you. Hoist the mast of FAITH today and sail into the deep with Jesus. Your faith will STRENGTHEN and your conscience will be STEADFAST.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, With Your help today I won't get lazy. I will, by FAITH, sail away from the shoreline of compromise where the rocks are and into the deep where FAITH is my "Life Preserver!" Amen
