Be Honest About It
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 86:1 Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.O-bservation:
Toward the end of his life, King David gave a personal offering to the Lord to start the building fund for the temple his son Solomon would build after David's death. The offering in today's dollars would total around $870 Million!! And yet earlier in his life David cried to God and said, "I am poor and needy."A-pplication:
David had learned through his years of following the Lord that there is much more to life than money. He realized that to have earthly wealth and yet still be dependent on your own ability, strength, intelligence, and wisdom was useless. In fact, that kind of a life leaves a person "Poor and Needy." I think what makes David's life so special, and why he's so much more than just another king, was his candor and flat out honesty. How many people do you know who seem to have everything but peace? Why is that? Perhaps they just won't admit that what they thought they needed the most hasn't brought "Peace of Mind." Instead of admitting it, they continue to pursue the same old thing. "Be Honest About It!" We don't need more of us today. We need more of Jesus.P-rayer:
Dear Jesus, With an open heart this AM, I admit I have more than I deserve. But without You and more of You, I'm just "Poor and Needy." I need you Lord and I always will. Amen

God’s Talking, Am I Listening?
S. O. A. P.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.O-bservation:
The prophet Amos prefaces this word by using the adjective Sovereign to describe the Lord. That word means God stands alone with no limitations and no authority over Him. And yet this Sovereign and all-knowing God doesn't do anything of huge merit without first revealing it to one of His Prophets or faithful Servants.A-pplication:
Sometimes we are quick to say, after the fact, "I didn't know about that. In fact no one saw that coming!" But that's just not true. Passages in God's Word like, "Call unto me and I will answer thee" (Jer. 33:3), "You will seek me and you will find me when you search for me with all of your heart" (Jer. 29:13), and "Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened unto you" (Matt. 7:7) are all passages that teach us that we don't have to be a Prophet for God to reveal to us what's coming down the pike! Please Look Up Today. God's got everything under control. It's not as bad as the "Enemy of Your Soul" would like for you to think! Here's my point ... "God’s Talking, Am I Listening?"P-rayer:
Dear Jesus, Today I feel a need to repent. I repent for all the times I looked at the newspaper instead of Your Word for "The News." I repent for all the times that I asked a friend instead of asking my "CREATOR" what I should do. WYH*, I'll change that. Amen *With Your Help

Overcome It!

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

2 Timothy 2:24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.O-bservation:
St. Paul talked here to his younger disciple Timothy about the "Essentials of Servant Leadership." No matter how one feels, we must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and not resentful.A-pplication:
Our feelings are what help make us Human. Feelings are polarizing between love and hate, insignificance and pride, joy and sadness, and apathy and compassion. Imagine going into a setting that is on edge with people who don't care for each other and certainly don't care for you. It's in those times that a true "Servant Leader" finds a way to "Overcome It!" YOU determine to be kind in the face of rudeness and rejection. YOU find a way to teach what you were brought in to present. And most of all, YOU choose to overcome feelings of resentment by being grateful to God that you are there to be the solution for people who are contrary. Nothing the individuals you have been called to serve do can make you stop serving them, because it's not about you it's about them. As a "Follower of Jesus," it's fulfilling to serve others because our gratefulness to God overcomes negative feelings brought on by others who are less fortunate. Just thank the Lord today that you are able to ... "Overcome It!"P-rayer:
Dear Jesus, This AM I truly am thankful that I can say with the Apostle Paul ... "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Amen
