Are You TOO Impressed With YOU?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 36:2

In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin.

O-bservation:

In the previous verse, King David said he had a word from God for those who are buried by sin’s folly. Because they don’t fear God, they’re overly impressed with themselves to the point that they can’t even detect, much less hate, their own sin.

A-pplication:

Here’s the big question this AM … “Are You TOO Impressed With YOU?” Generally speaking, King David was making a call on wicked narcissistic people he knew. In David’s estimation, they had flattered themselves with their own love of personal accomplishment. They made other people hate having to endure their company because they were so enamored with themselves that it was impossible for them to see their own folly. I have no reason to believe that these people ever came out of their dreams of grandeur based in their own highly overinflated picture they had of themselves. What had happened to these folks is what can happen to any of us who fail Jesus’ call for personal humility. They were too impressed with themselves and lost it all! Jesus is waiting for you today. “Don’t Get TOO Impressed With YOU!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I love You today my Lord. Help ME humble ME today instead of getting too impressed with ME today! Amen
