Always Be Prepared

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 25:4

The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

O-bservation:

This is part of the parable Jesus told concerning the five foolish virgins and the five wise virgins. They had gone out to meet the bridegroom not knowing exactly what time he would arrive. The five wise virgins brought oil for their lamps, but the five foolish virgins brought lamps but no oil.

A-pplication:

You may or may not know the story. The bridegroom was long in coming and they waited and it turned dark. The five foolish virgins asked to borrow oil from the wise virgins and were rejected. They said, “No, go get your own oil.” While they were gone, the bridegroom came and left with the five wise virgins. The others missed his arrival. Obviously, Jesus was telling all of us that since none of us know the day or hour Jesus is coming we must, “Always Be Prepared.” Don’t live this life for Jesus halfway!! No!! We must live with everything we are, everything we have, and everything we hope to be, FULL ON for Jesus. That’s why we are called to, “Always Be Prepared.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m asking You to show me the areas I’m falling short in. I want to strengthen those weak areas. With Your help, I want to “Always Be Prepared.” Amen
