A Shot Across The Bow
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Corinthians 2:17
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.
O-bservation:
The Apostle Paul reported to the Church at Corinth that he and his associates could be trusted to preach Jesus with no personal agendas.
A-pplication:
It’s not readily apparent who Paul was accusing here, but certainly in this passage he sends a hard “Shot Across The Bow.” He uses the term “so many,” but certainly he had a couple in mind who some of his closest friends most likely knew about. It had gotten under his skin and he was fed up with it. Sometimes, in an attempt to clear the air of phonies, a man or woman of God will have to send “A Shot Across The Bow” directed at an individual or group to let the Church know who they can trust and who they can’t. At the end of the day, only those who are truly faithful ministers of the Gospel will produce lasting fruit.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM help me live what I say I am. Help me lead others toward You and not toward any selfish agenda I may have. Amen
