S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 2:6

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

O-bservation:

St. Paul began this first letter to the church at Corinth by arguing for the wisdom of God, which was considered foolishness to the people. He said we speak a message of “Wisdom For The Mature,” but not for this world or the people who are leading it. Paul said they’re coming to NOTHING!

A-pplication:

Wisdom from God is certainly the only wisdom worth anything. However, if it isn’t asked for it’s somewhat useless. Man’s wisdom over God’s has accounted for countless wars throughout the centuries. Sickness, disease, poverty, crime, family breakup, and racial strife are just some of the outcomes of man’s purported wisdom. The Apostle so decried the wisdom of man that he said, “The leaders of today (that was 2,000 and something years ago) are coming to NOTHING.” Doesn’t this verse sound like right now though? What we witness in the news are men and women, highly educated for a battle that appears to be waged by 60 and 70-year-olds who are acting like 10 year olds. Wisdom and truth have fallen in the streets. Even those who feel insignificant are being called on to rise up and call upon the Lord for real, “Wisdom For The Mature.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me stand this AM for God’s wisdom. I can’t make it without a “Wisdom For The Mature.” Amen
