Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
3 John 1:4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
O-bservation:
The Apostle John referred to the “Jesus Followers” he was writing to as his children. Just like a father, he told them, “My greatest joy occurs when I hear that you are walking in the truth.”
A-pplication:
John, being one of the Apostles, was talking in a spiritually patriarchal way. However, let’s make this about a real family with a Dad and Mom and Kids. If you’re reading this AM devo and you happen to fall into the category of a Mother or a Father, I have a question. What brings you the greatest joy when it comes to your children? Is it good grades or cool friends or the fact that they are attractive? Certainly every parent has a secret hope that our kids would do and be all that stuff, but here’s the deal. I know a lot of people who have met those measurables who continue to give their parents and friends great heartache. Here’s what I’ve discovered as a Father. When children decide to pursue Faith and really walk in Truth, there is … “No Greater Joy!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I want to give You praise and thanksgiving for children who walk in truth. I’m asking for friends of mine who are believing the same will happen in time for their kids. Because there is, “No Greater Joy!” Amen
