Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Samuel 22:27
To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.
O-bservation:
This is the middle part of King David’s great song of praise to the Lord after defeating the Philistines yet again. This time it was a tough battle. Earlier in the previous chapter, because of David’s age, he had to be rescued from certain death. His men said, “King David, this will be the last time you go into battle with us.” After the victory, David was overwhelmed with joy and began to offer a song of praise to the Lord. He said, “To the pure You show Yourself pure, but if someone is found to be devious, You will show just how shrewd You really are.”
A-pplication:
Here’s the deal. Jesus will always be who you need Him to be. If you approach Him honestly, with a pure heart, He will respond in kind. However, if you’re up against associates or family members who are underhanded in a devious way, make sure you tell them this one thing … “Don’t Mess With Jesus.” Jesus can play that game too. King David was quick to note that if someone is underhanded, Jesus is quick to judge the situation right and respond appropriately. Never misunderstand love and purity for foolish naïveté. In other words, “Don’t Mess With Jesus.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m so thankful this AM that I never have to worry about whether or not You’re cool. You’re always way ahead of me and the trouble I face. That’s why I’m always confident in You. Amen
