Lord … Who Am I?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Samuel 7:18b

“Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?”

O-bservation:

King David had just received word from the Lord, that his family would be established as Israel’s permanent Monarchy. David knew he had come from humble beginnings. While it is true he was already the King of Israel, he never ever carried an arrogance about it. And he knew that Saul was a one-time King and out. So, in response to God’s declaration, and with a sense of absolute astonishment, David asked the Lord, “Lord … Who Am I?”

A-pplication:

What would this world be like if everyone operated with these two, irreversible REGULATIONS? First, NO ONE is entitled. Second, EVERYONE must be generous with someone they’re not related to and who cannot help them in return … EVERYDAY. I’m speaking of the entire planet. WOW! What a wonderful world it might be. I say “might be,” because the choice of love would be taken out of the equation. However, the idea of poverty being gone, and no one acting like they’re better than anybody else, does sound appealing to some. Well, at least to me. King David certainly was generous, and if anybody was humble he fits the bill. He wasn’t faking his humility in this passage, because nothing in the text suggests he was. Here’s the goal, why not, like David, regardless of how blessed we may be, Big or Small, just ask … “Lord, Who Am I?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I have one question, “Lord … Who Am I?” Seriously! Amen
