Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Samuel 27:1a
But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines.”
O-bservation:
David had been running for his life from the hand of his own beloved King Saul. Finally, WISDOM set in. David said, “If I hang around here any longer, King Saul will kill me. I will escape from my country and into the land of the Philistines.”
A-pplication:
It’s hard to imagine that David, who was beloved by his nation, Israel, could become so hated by his own King, Saul. But Saul was jealous of David and he tried to kill him over and over. Finally, David decided it would be more peaceful in the land of Israel’s arch enemy, the PHILISTINES, than in his own country. Sometimes, daily living turns to critical mass and that’s when “WISDOM IS REQUIRED.” David found a friend in King Achish of Gath. Achish allowed David to live in Ziklag for almost a year and a half, where he found a break from King Saul, the hound of Israel. In time, Saul was killed by the very same Philistines David found a hiding place with. Wisdom sometimes means that the road you take may be unconventional at best. However, it’s possibly the only road that saves you in the end. We are living in “Challenging Times,” where even the strongest heart may grow faint. For the Believer, “WISDOM IS REQUIRED!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, my prayer is once again for wisdom. I’m ready to take the unconventional road, as long as it’s the path You want me to take. Amen
