Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Samuel 20:4
Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do for you.”
O-bservation:
Most likely the BEST friend King David ever had was his counterpart Jonathan, the son of King Saul. As much as this relationship shouldn’t have happened, it definitely DID happen. There came a point that Jonathan’s father, King Saul, was so jealous of David that he was going to kill him. David’s only hope was Jonathan, and Jonathan said to him, “Whatever you want me to do for you, I’ll do it!”
A-pplication:
When David and Jonathan said goodbye for what they believed was the last time, the Bible says David wept harder than Jonathan did. If you were to ask David, he would have told you, “Jonathan is My BEST Friend!” There’s nothing like having a friend who ALWAYS has your back. A couple of My BEST Friends are already in heaven. These were men I could call at any moment and they’d be there. What about the person who would say, “I don’t really have a BEST friend, or even a friend?” Well, there’s one friend who sticks closer than a brother. His name is JESUS. The wonderful thing about Jesus is that He’s the one saying to you right now, “Whatever you need for me to do, I’ll do it for you!” Those are words from … “My BEST Friend.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You this AM that You are “My BEST Friend.” Thank You that You promise to do whatever I need. Amen
