Enemy To Your Enemies

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Samuel 7: 13

So the Philistines were subdued and they stopped invading Israel’s territory. Throughout Samuel’s lifetime, the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines.

O-bservation:

Samuel was the last Prophet before the first King, Saul of Israel, was anointed. He was a man of God, who as a young boy said, “Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening.” From that point on, Samuel was close to the Lord. In time, he took the place of Eli, the old priest who had failed miserably. The Lord became Samuel’s personal ENEMY to his ENEMIES. The arch enemy of Israel was the Philistines. NEVER during Samuel’s tenure did the Philistines ever prevail against Israel.

A-pplication:

What would it be like to have your own personal “Enemy To Your Enemies?” What was it about Samuel that was so attractive to the Lord? I believe there are two main reasons Jesus continually blessed Samuel so that failure and defeat never entered the door of his life. First, Samuel LISTENED for the Lord’s voice. Job said God is always speaking to us, but most often we’re just not listening. Listening for the Lord’s voice is imperative. Second, I believe Samuel was quick to OBEY what he heard the Lord say to him. Certainly there are times when all of us have felt like Jesus was saying to do something and we heard it, but we didn’t act upon it. Before you say “It’s too late for me, I’m not good at either,” just stop! There was only ONE Prophet Samuel, and it’s never too late to begin LISTENING to and OBEYING the Lord. Anyone who would stand against you for listening to and obeying Jesus is setting themselves up to face your personal “Enemy To Your Enemies!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I know that You’re with me and that Your strong right arm will NEVER fail me. Amen
