Let Go Of What’s Holding You Back

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 66:18

If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

O-bservation:

King David makes a confession here which is more of a directive for all who would follow Jesus. He says when it comes to my relationship with the Lord, I can’t have that and cherish sin at the same time. Sin clogs the heavenly cell lines to God. Sin is a separator. It’s an issue that involves the heart, and when one’s heart has been given over to sin, allegiance becomes an issue. Who deserves your allegiance? And if the answer is the Lord, then David says, “You can’t fill part of your heart with selfishness.”

A-pplication:

People have often said to me through my years as a Servant Leader, “Rich I pray, and I pray, and I just don’t hear anything back from the Lord.” I usually respond with this line: “Go back to the last command Jesus gave you, that you disobeyed, and make it right. Once you obey His last command, the communication lines will open back up.” Disobedience is sin, and the sin King David is speaking of in this passage has to do with disobedience. I cannot disobey God’s Word and then expect Him to give me a fresh Word. His Word is far too timely and precious to drag through the mud of selfishness. The King is saying “Let Go Of What’s Holding You Back.” That’s right!! Whatever is clogging your line to heaven, let it go today, and listen for Jesus to speak to you. It will happen quickly! Jesus is waiting.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m just checking in to see if everything is ok in my heart this AM. I don’t want anything there that is displeasing to You. I want the phone lines clean and working. I need to hear Your voice all day! Amen
