YOU Oh Lord Were Good, Even When We Were Not
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Nehemiah 9:33
In all that has happened to us, you have remained righteous; you have acted faithfully, while we acted wickedly.
O-bservation:
There came a point after the people had returned from Babylonian captivity, when the wall was finally repaired. Ezra, the priest, stood and read the law and the people wept as they heard it. Then they began to repent before the Lord and even signed a promise. During their prayer they acknowledged that in all of their waywardness God never failed them. They even said, “YOU Oh Lord Were Good, Even When We Were Not.”
A-pplication:
Here the people of Judah were back home, but it wasn’t the same. The land was still flowing with milk and honey, but it wasn’t their milk and honey anymore. No! It belonged to the kings who ruled over them. It’s as if they were working totally to bless someone else and they knew it. How about you today? I know in my own life there have been times when I’m not doing things simply to help others. Because of my own failures, I somehow forgot who was really in charge. Like the people in this passage, I’ve stopped and said, “YOU Oh Lord Were Good, Even When I Was Not.” God is good all the time. Never forget, His character does not change because we fail to do the right thing. It’s time for all of us to say, “YOU Oh Lord Were Good, Even When We Were Not!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m very thankful this AM that YOU are always good. No matter what I do, or the mess ups I’m guilty of, Your character does not change. “You are good even when we are not!” Amen
