WHY? You’ve Got So Much To Live For

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 42:11

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

O-bservation:

The writer is perplexed about how he has come to such a depressed and desperate place in his life. He even asks his soul why it’s so down. Then he gives his own soul a directive. Here it is … “Put your hope in God!”

A-pplication:

Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I so down?” I know I have it better than about 95% of the world’s population, and yet I sometimes arrive at a place of discouragement. Anyone can get down. Anyone can believe the devil’s lie that says, “Hey, I’ve failed,” or “I should be doing so much better than I am,” or “I knew I should have gotten more education.“ To be honest, you can go on with the list of “I wish I shoulda, coulda, woulda,” but all of that is yesterday and none of us can change yesterday! What we have is right NOW! Determine in your heart this AM that you will put an end to your “FEELINGS ABOUT YOUR FAILINGS,” and instead command your soul to “Put Your HOPE IN God!” Jesus told the devil, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God!” (Matt. 4:15). So instead of sitting in the corner wallowing in the failures of yesterday and believing that your best days are over, please answer my question: “WHY? You’ve Got So Much To Live For!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I need You this AM more than ever. I hear this voice saying, “You shoulda done that, and why didn’t you do this, and you coulda been so much more.” But what I know is that is my soul talking and not You talking. Today I will command my soul to HOPE in the Lord! Amen
