Why Not Just Be WRONGED?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 6:7

The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

O-bservation:

The Apostle Paul wrote this to the young church at Corinth. You can see him as if he was the father of a little child when he says, “Instead of suing each other, which is a lousy witness to people who are trying to figure out what a Christian is, ‘Why Not Just Be WRONGED?”

A-pplication:

“Why Not Just Be WRONGED” had to have been a noble thought on the part of St. Paul. As he said, the very fact that you are in litigation with your fellow Christian means you have already been defeated. In other words, shouldn’t those who both follow Christ be better at working out their differences than just going to the courts? But I love the line, “Why Not Just Be WRONGED?” That’s such an unusual thought in the times we are living in. To the Apostle, it was better that he just be wronged by someone than to put the Christian life in a bad light. Paul’s writings, which followed in line with Jesus’ words, talked about the fact that those who follow Jesus are different. We just are. We do for others what we would like for others to do for us. Those days seem long gone in our world. I feel like we should bring them back.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m ready this AM to be the witness with my actions and not just my words. With Your help, I’ll control my words but also my life. Amen
