Why Do-gooders Win

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

O-bservation:

St. Paul had written this letter to the church at Galatia partly because after coming to know the Lord they had returned to their old Jewish customs of focusing on the law and not the Lord. Paul told them to keep doing good because if they did, they would reap a harvest by not giving up.

A-pplication:

The Christian walk is not always an easy one, but it certainly is a rewarding one. “Followers of Jesus” must never forget that they are following someone who gave His very life to break the curse of the law. That doesn’t mean we are now free to break the law, but it does mean that we are free to live a life of purpose focused on others and not ourselves. All of this was made possible because of Jesus. Whenever a person is worried that perhaps they need to do more, they usually go back and lean on religion instead of their relationship with Jesus. In this passage, the line “keep doing good” means to keep living by faith in the one who saved you. In time, if you and I “keep doing good,” we will WIN! If you were wondering, that’s “Why Do-gooders Win.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, with Your help, I’m not looking back. I’m Your follower. I refuse to lean on religion to get me through a day. Only my relationship with You helps me to keep doing good! Amen
