Why Do BAD Things Happen To GOOD People?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 1:1
In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.
O-bservation:
This is the very first verse that takes us on the path of the real-life story of Job. This is thought to be the oldest book in the Bible. The land of Uz is probably somewhere in modern-day Jordon. At that time in history, Job was known as the wealthiest man in all the east. Yet in one day he lost it all, including his children to death. The story begs the question, “Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?”
A-pplication:
Recently, my friend and fellow laborer in the ministry laid his beloved and relatively young wife to rest after a five-year battle with cancer. I say BATTLE because his wife battled the insidious disease physically while she and the rest of us battled through prayer and fasting and faith to see a physical miracle take place. What we were BATTLING for didn’t happen on this side, but we believe that she is experiencing eternal health and is anxiously awaiting our coming to her. We are sure she is in HEAVEN! But like the story of Job, my friend’s story keeps all of us silently pondering, “Why Do BAD Things Happen To GOOD People?” Here’s my answer: I DON’T KNOW!! But here’s what I DO KNOW. With Abraham, I believe his great line, “Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Gen. 18:25b). With Job, I will also agree when he said, “Though He (speaking of the Almighty) slay me, I will hope in Him” (Job 13:15a). And, “But I know that my Redeemer lives!” (Job 19:25a). I know you may be thinking, “That’s blind faith, Rich!” And to that, I’d say, “Well if it’s BLIND on this side of heaven, I know I’ll SEE the evidence over there.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
You are the ONE I trust. That’s what I want to say this AM. I DON’T have all the answers, and even though I wish I did, I do know that You will let me know the reason WHY in time. Amen
