Who Does That?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 9:9

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

O-bservation:

This is a simple observation that simply says Jesus saw a tax collector named Matthew sitting at his job behind his tax collector’s booth and told him, “Follow me.” And Matthew did! Matthew left everything behind and followed Jesus. But when you read that Jesus told the man to follow Him, you question silently, “Who Does That?” Jesus DID THAT!

A-pplication:

Think about the power of Jesus’ personality. Think of the passion in His eyes. Think of being the person who has an enviable job and future living under occupied authority when Jesus looks at you and says, “Follow Me!” Would you just melt? Would you be helpless to do anything but follow? Would you initially want to go? Well, if you were Matthew, the answer to all of these inquiries is YES. But who has the gall to ask a grown man with a good job to leave it all and follow Him? Once again, Jesus does! There was no promise of money, career, success, or fame. Just “Follow Me!” Suddenly this employed individual drops it all and follows Jesus. “Who Does That?” Well, in this case, Matthew did that. Matthew walked away from everything to follow Christ! Yeah, but “Who Does That” today? I DID.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so thankful that many years ago You said to me, “Follow Me!” I’m also thankful that I said yes to You. Today I pray for my friend that they will remember that they did too. Amen
