When You Think Jesus Isn’t Listening

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Habakkuk 1:2a

How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen?

O-bservation:

The prophet Habakkuk prayed, but he was sure the Lord wasn’t listening to his prayers based upon this opening statement. In his short prophecy, Habakkuk had two complaints in his prayer to the Lord, and the Lord gave him two answers to his complaints. In the end, Habakkuk said, “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights” (3:19). Jesus’ response to Habakkuk’s complaints let the prophet know that the Lord was listening.

A-pplication:

Sometimes, “When You Think Jesus Isn’t Listening,” the truth is He never misses a word you speak. He’s always listening. But, and here’s the thing, He’s not always going to respond immediately to what you’re saying because His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. I want to assure you that He is God and because He is He hears every prayer of every person on the planet intimately, at the same time. He’s not confused, or rattled, or trying to think it through to decide. NO! He knows before you ask and knows the answer before you ask, but when you and I ask the time isn’t always right for Him to respond. Wait on the Lord. When you wait for Him, in time, He will answer you, even “When You Think Jesus Isn’t Listening.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so glad that You hear every thought and prayer I ever think or utter. I’m grateful that You will respond in Your way and in Your time. One thing I know is, “You’re Always Listening!” Amen
