Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Then the officials said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah, go and hide. Don’t let anyone know where you are.”
This event happened during a time when King Jehoiakim of Judah reigned. He had banned Jeremiah from going to the Lord’s temple. Jeremiah dictated a word from God to his associate Baruch and told him to take it to the temple and read it to people as they arrived from their different towns throughout Judah in hopes that they would repent. Baruch did as Jeremiah had instructed him, and when he did, it was reported to leaders within the government. They came and met with Baruch and had him read it to them. When they heard what Baruch had read to them from the prophet Jeremiah, they told Baruch to go and find Jeremiah and HIDE. They had to be HIDDEN from the King. When the King heard the scroll being read in his presence, he stripped it from the reader and threw it in the fire and burned it! He and his associates showed no fear whatsoever in the presence of the Lord. Instead, he sent his associates out to arrest Jeremiah and Baruch, but God had hidden them. Not long after this event took place, Nebuchadnezzar laid a siege on Jerusalem and then overthrew them. This is what Jeremiah had prophesied was about to happen.
“When PRIESTS Have To Hide From KINGS,” those KINGS’ days are numbered! It is imperative that we keep the Word Of God precious in our lives and never forget it!
Should the day ever come where I, as a PRIEST unto You, will have to be hidden, I know this: Your Word will already be hidden in my heart! Amen
