Whatever You Do, Get God On Your Side

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Samuel 5:10

And he became more and more powerful, because the Lord God Almighty was with him.

O-bservation:

After Israel came over to David’s side and all 12 tribes were reunited, King David just became more and more powerful because God was on his side. It wasn’t because he was the smartest, or strongest, or best warrior, or attractive. No! It was because God was on his side.

A-pplication:

This word this AM is not to suggest that God isn’t on your side. It’s just that I believe there’s something more you and I can do in order to assure that there can be an even greater power that comes upon us. The New Testament says, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you” (James 4:7-8a). Even though this is taken from the New Testament, the directive from James is exactly what David did as a young man, and as the King of Judah, and eventually as the King of Israel. When you read the Psalms, David is completely submitted to the Lord. His life and actions, save for his failure with Bathsheba, were a continual resistance of the devil’s temptation, and he was constantly drawing near to the Lord in his writings and prayers. What happened to David? He got God in his side. Here’s what I’m saying, “Whatever You Do, Get God On Your Side!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Once again this AM, I promise You that with all my heart I will yield to You again. I will also resist the enemy’s temptation. I will with everything that’s in me draw close to You. I need You on my side. Amen
