What Would You Do For Jesus?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Isaiah 20:3

Then the Lord said, “Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush.”

O-bservation:

God used his beloved prophet Isaiah as a sign against Egypt and Cush, nations that had rebelled against the Lord. He had Isaiah walk naked for three years, warning the Egyptians and Cushites that judgement was coming upon them. Of course the judgement came.

A-pplication:

Every time I read this passage I think to myself, “Whaaaaat?” Can you possibly imagine being naked in the streets of your city, preaching the warnings from God, for three years? When I walk through Times Square in NYC, I watch and listen to the preachers in the street. If they don’t have their followers with them, they’re usually being trashed by folks mocking them. And that’s while they’re completely clothed! Seriously though, when I read of a man of God doing this so faithfully and unyieldingly, I wonder just how far I’m willing to obey Jesus. We all say I’ll do anything! But really? After my short devo this AM, I’m going to retreat for a bit and ask myself this question: “What Would You Do For Jesus?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

None of us can imagine why in the world Isaiah was asked to do this, or why Hosea was asked to marry a prostitute in the Old Testament to illustrate a point. What I want to say is, just please help me to keep saying yes to You. I want to obey You no matter what. Amen
