What Kind Of Judgement Are We Talking About?

S-cripture:

Deuteronomy 1:17a

Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of anyone, for judgment belongs to God.

O-bservation:

Moses began this book with a review of how the process of judging individuals of Israel had come to be. He said he had elevated certain leaders in the nation to be judges and that when cases became too difficult for these leaders, they would then bring them to Moses to handle. Moses then said, “Never be afraid to judge rightly, because judgment belongs to the Lord.”

A-pplication:

Through the years when reading this passage, I’ve always had a question and here it is: “What Kind Of Judgement Are We Talking About?” The reason I’ve had this question is that in my leadership role there are about five out of a hundred judgments I make that are, at my age, easy. Then there are the judgments I have to make that are all but impossible. Those are the ones that I pray over and mull over, sometimes for days and weeks and then endlessly. Those are the ones that biblically can go either way. It’s those times when I say with King David, “It is God who judges: He brings one down, He exalts another” (Ps. 75:7). I’m sure by now you’ve figured it out, I’ll stick with the Lord. He’s fair.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I Love you today my Lord. I’m grateful that You alone are the righteous judge of all the ages and You are always right. Amen
