Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
In this passage, Jesus tells us that He is the good shepherd. He also says the good shepherd lays his life down for the sheep. He said this before He died, so that everyone would know after His death that He, indeed, was and is the good shepherd.
It’s important to note that Jesus laid His life down for ALL sheep, not just His sheep. Certainly Jesus wants ALL sheep (humans) to follow Him, and so His sacrifice to this day remains available to anyone who would deny himself or herself and follow Jesus. This is really an unheard of offering, that Jesus would lay His all and all on the altar of sacrifice for all men and women everywhere, until He returns to take us all to His eternal home. He was willing to do this for what appears to be the vast majority of humans who will never respond to His sacrifice other than to curse it. However, He did it anyway. He did that for believing sheep and rebellious sheep. For those of us who follow Christ and are surrounded by so many wayward sheep, the question must be asked: “What Have We Done For Them Lately?”
I can never be You! But help me reach those lost sheep who still have time to respond to Your sacrifice on their behalf. Amen
