What Does It Take To Believe?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 27:53

They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

O-bservation:

This event follows immediately after the resurrection of Jesus. The Bible says in the preceding verses that when Jesus died on the cross the veil in the Temple was split and holy people who had died and were laid in tombs came back to life. Three days later, they went into Jerusalem.

A-pplication:

Whenever I read this little-preached passage, I always ask, “What Does It Take To Believe?” Think about it. Doesn’t it stand to reason that if Jesus was seen in and around Jerusalem by 500 different people over a 40-day period following His resurrection, and if a number of well-known holy people who were “formerly dead” and in tombs were seen in and around Jerusalem at the same time, wouldn’t that be reason enough for a national revival? But … it didn’t happen. Sure there was Revival after the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, but the case for Christ has always been a slow-moving, organic change in certain individual’s lives through the centuries. At the same time, more folks have chosen not to believe the facts. Because in the end it comes down to a simple act of FAITH. Faith always makes the difference when it comes to “Following Jesus.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

It seems like a hundred years ago since I first followed You. But just like the day I began, I will continue to walk by faith and not by sight again today. Amen
