Well Done

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Joshua 24:31
Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel.
O-bservation:
This verse marks the end of the life of Joshua. Shortly before he passed away, there was a point when Israel began to serve other gods. Immediately Joshua, in his old age, got up in front of the people and gave a Spirit-inspired message of spiritual awakening so that the people all reaffirmed their wholehearted commitment to the Lord. Here, after his death, the scripture says Israel followed the Lord all the days of Joshua’s life.
A-pplication:
This passage could be followed by the words “A Job Well Done” when speaking of the life and leadership of Joshua. I doubt there has been a soul who has read this verse in history who hasn’t thought, “Wow, I wish that could be said of me someday.” Few if any have ever had that said about them. Moses didn’t. David didn’t. Even Jesus had His followers turn on him in the end. But not Joshua. I’m sure it came at a heavy cost. We don’t ever read of his family except for his reference to them in this chapter. We never read of him having a vacation or any type of pastime whatsoever. Yet, at the end of his life, he was able to say to the Lord, “I’ve kept those who you entrusted me with strong.” Most of us will never come close to attaining the status or accomplishments Joshua did, but that doesn’t keep us from looking to that day when we hear Jesus say, “Well Done!” Keep believing. It’s gonna happen.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m really only looking and hoping and believing for Your approval. Amen
