Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
There came a point in the spiritual leadership of Israel when the priests couldn’t be distinguished from anyone else other than perhaps by the clothes they wore. They had closed their eyes to the righteous things of God Almighty, so that God said their very existence caused the Lord to be mocked among them.
No one who calls himself or herself a spiritual leader is exempt from moral compromise unless they purpose in their heart not to defile themselves. That’s what scripture says about the Prophet Daniel. It says, “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself” (Dan. 1:8a). There’s always the temptation as a man or woman of God to close our eyes to the sin and depravity around us. But when we do, it’s not as if it goes away. For when we fail to address it with Holy Scripture it doesn’t get weaker, instead it grows exponentially. God help us all to rise up with a Holy Spirit boldness to decry sin and uphold the truth of our blessed Savior! “We Leaders Must Lead With Our Eyes Wide Open!”
Help me I pray to keep my eyes wide open to the state of the culture around me and to have the guts to address it with Your Help! Amen
