To Serve Or Not To Serve

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

1 Chronicles 23:28

The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.

If you were born into the tribe of the Levites in the Old Testament, you were designated by God to have a lifetime of service in the ministry, of some description. According to this passage it was their “DUTY.”

In the New Testament the call to all “Followers of Jesus” is to go and serve, the work of the ministry. So our challenge as “Jesus People” will always be “To Serve Or Not To Serve.” It doesn’t have to be a leading position of service where you’re always in the spotlight, so to speak. But it has to be something. Every member of the Body of Christ must fulfill their God-given “DUTY.” However, unlike the Levites it must never be a “Have To” kind of service; it is intended to be a “Get To” opportunity for service to our Lord. After all, Jesus is our passion and pursuit. If He was the servant of all, like He told us, then it is our joy to Serve as did our Lord. So this AM, the ball is in our court, “To Serve Or Not To Serve.” Indeed, that is the question.

Dear Jesus,

This AM I count it all joy to be able to serve You and Your people. Amen
