They Did, AND He Did!

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 18:31

Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.”

O-bservation:

Just before Jesus led His disciples to Jerusalem for the Passion Week, He told them exactly what to expect since it had already been prophesied in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53. He said that He would be delivered into the hands of the Gentiles and that He would be mocked, insulted, spit on, flogged, and killed. Then He said He would rise again from the grave on the third day.

A-pplication:

What we know happened after Jesus’ prophetic word can be summarized by saying, “They Did, AND He Did!” In other words, the Roman authorities did exactly what Jesus said they would do and killed Him. Jesus also did what He said HE would do and rose again! He prophesied both would happen. What needs to be acknowledged here is that Jesus has always known the end from the beginning. Never ever wonder if Jesus is perplexed or confused or is waiting for something to happen. He Himself was behind the entire redemption plan. Long before the worlds were formed, He already knew. The only thing Jesus was forced to do was wait for the actual event to take place when it did. Yes, there was a moment when He asked the Father if the cup could pass from Him, but He yielded to the Father’s will instead. I’m not trying to make this cut and dried, but you need to know the greatness of our God. He has done whatever HAD to be done to bring you and me home. I’m grateful HE DID!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Every morning, as I approach Your throne, I’m still amazed and shake my head that You did what You Did for me. Forever I am yielded to You. Amen
