The WONDER of Jesus

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Revelation 1:18

I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

O-bservation:

This is the recording of the Apostle John, who knew Jesus well. This happened long after the death and resurrection of Jesus, while the Apostle was on the Isle of Patmos. John had a vision of the future called the Revelation. At the beginning of the vision, John saw Jesus high and lifted up. Jesus told him that He indeed is alive forevermore, and holds the keys of death and Hades (hell).

A-pplication:

There have been so many through the years who have discounted the Revelation of John the Apostle. Yes, it is evidently about the future. Yes, it is hard to understand. Yes, there is a special blessing offered to those who would study and research it. But NO, and this is an emphatic NO, NO ONE has the total and perfect explanation of this book. Yet one thing is clear: John’s vision of our risen Lord and Savior Jesus is awe-inspiring. His description of the risen Lord can be found in verses 12-16. Then John records the above words of our Lord as He speaks. Jesus gives a simple statement. He said, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” The first time I read this as a boy, and when I read it now as a seasoned adult, it leaves me with this SAME thought. “The WONDER Of Jesus.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Your story is my whole life. Your story is what gave me life, eternal life. Your story is what will one day usher me into Your presence away from here. Until then, I can only bask in “The WONDER Of Jesus.” Amen
