Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
For Samaria’s plague is incurable; it has spread to Judah. It has reached the very gate of my people, even to Jerusalem itself.
These words of Micah the prophet are the words of a man of God so broken over the sin of God’s people that he said in the previous verse that he was running naked and barefoot, weeping and howling like a wolf over the sin that had engulfed his people. The sin had so overrun Samaria, the capital of the ten northern tribes of Israel, that they had reached a place of such cancerous sin that they were beyond cure. “The Sin Cancer” Micah spoke of had come upon the people of Judah and up to the gates of Jerusalem. Jerusalem was spared, but “The Sin Cancer” had done its damage.
Nothing in God’s Holy Word, when it comes to the sin of previously righteous people, was reserved only for that day in time. We, the people of God in our time, are just as susceptible to “The Sin Cancer” if we are not as intent on running to the Lord as the people of God in Bible times. Sin operates like a cancer. It’s not content to be isolated. Sin’s author, even Satan himself, is only satisfied when “The Sin Cancer” is spreading and damaging and killing God’s people. God calls you and me this AM not to run and hide but run to the battle. We are the ANSWER. We have the SOLUTION. His name is Jesus!
Help me this AM take this challenge with everything that’s in me. I know that “The Sin Cancer,” just like in Micah’s day, is spreading today as well. Help me be Your healing balm in my time. Amen
