The Prayer From A Humble Heart

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Isaiah 37:20

Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.

O-bservation:

This is the humble prayer of King Hezekiah. He was in a terrible fix. King Sennacherib Of Assyria had already destroyed the towns of Judah and was headed for Hezekiah and the city of Jerusalem. It looked like it was over for the people of Jerusalem until this happened. King Hezekiah offered “The Prayer From A Humble Heart.”

A-pplication:

“The Prayer From A Humble Heart” is the prayer of desperation when there is nothing else left to do but petition heaven. You know it’s over. You know you’re going to lose. All odds are stacked against you, and what do you do? You can do one of two things. You can go into the temple to pray like the man that Jesus spoke of and offer some phony-baloney fake prayer that tends to build you up. Or you can beat on your chest and cry to God and say, “Be merciful to me a sinner!” (Luke 18:10). The second prayer offered was “The Prayer From A Humble Heart.” Our great God hasn’t changed since the day Hezekiah prayed this prayer. He answered Hezekiah’s humble prayer then, and He still answers “The Prayer From A Humble Heart” today. Whatever mountain you’re facing today, I encourage you to stop and tell God how great He is and beg Him for help. He is bound to answer your prayer today.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

You know the mountain I’m faced with this AM. I’d be a fool to tell You all the great things I’ve done. You already know what I’d say. But the truth is they’re all puny things in Your eyes. I’d rather tell You how great You are and beg You to intervene. It’s my only hope. Amen
