The Powerful Voice Of The Lord!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 4:39

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

O-bservation:

One evening, Jesus and His disciples got in a boat and sailed across the Sea of Galilee. During the trip, Jesus fell asleep in the stern of the boat, and a violent storm arose on the Sea. The disciples, fearing for their lives, awakened the Lord and asked Him to help them. He SPOKE to the wind and waves—they calmed down, and the boat made it safely to the other side.

A-pplication:

In Psalm 29:3, King David said, “The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.” Fourteen generations later, King David’s grandson, Jesus, stood up and verbally rebuked the wind and the waves, and they obeyed Him. Can you imagine Jesus’ voice being so powerful that the wind and the waves somehow developed ears to hear at that moment and then a heart to change their minds? Never has the inanimate creation of God seemed so mortal, so human, so that like a child who humbly returns repentant to its room after his mother has scolded him, the wind and waves said, “Yes Jesus, we’re sorry,” and calmed down. My friend, never discount “The Powerful Voice Of The Lord.” Whatever you need today, whatever storm is brewing in your world today, please call on His name. His voice is powerful and will calm your storm.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, as You already know, I have a few storms brewing in my life right now. I’m asking You to stand up and calm my storm with Your voice. Amen
