The Normal Thing To Do

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Samuel 1:12

They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the Lord and for the nation of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

O-bservation:

When David and his men heard that Saul, Jonathon, and the Israeli army had been defeated by the Philistines, “The Normal Thing To Do” was to break down and weep and mourn and fast for their lost comrades.

A-pplication:

For some on the outside of our Judeo/Christian faith, this is a difficult passage to swallow. Saul had terrorized David for years and forced him to run for his very life. Yet those of us who are “Followers of Jesus” understand the chain of command as it relates to Servant Leadership. Even though David was one day to be King, he valued and honored the present King who was literally trying to kill him. Why? Because David had purposed in his heart that he would not touch the anointed of the Lord. Even when leaders are at times contemptible, they hold an office that is anointed of the Lord. If we pray, God will in His way and time move them on. If we take matters into our own hands, one day someone will do the same to us. It’s the law of the harvest. Today choose God’s way, because it’s “The Normal Thing To Do.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Once again this AM I am trusting You. Even when it’s at times difficult, I will follow those You have anointed as my leaders. Amen
