Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
“The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on will be: the Lord is there.”
For most of this final chapter, Ezekiel is having a vision of the NEW JERUSALEM—heaven. Many New Testament theologians believe he was also seeing a picture of The CHURCH that was yet to come.
Scholars opinions differ on what 18,000 cubits means. Is it trying to place a size on the old City of David, or is it a number that is meant to be limitless? Certainly heaven is limitless, and in many ways the Church worldwide is limitless. Every day we read of churches (Jesus Followers) being found in remote places and in dangerous places where being a “Believer” means death. Every place the Church is, The Lord Is There (Jehovah Shammah)! However, you may be asking, “How does that help ME?” Here’s how I believe it helps. If Ezekiel was seeing the CHURCH in the future and then HEAVEN for eternity, and he saw that in each case Jesus was THERE, certainly for you today you can rest assured that “The Lord Is HERE” with you right NOW!
Thank You most of all that I know You are HERE. Amen
