Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
“The Jesus Way” was foreign to anything people had ever seen before His arrival. He told folks that the ones in charge were to serve the ones they were leading, and the very most brilliant in the room must operate as a young child. This was humble service at its finest.
Today we call it Servant Leadership, but back in the day they called it “The Jesus Way.” I thank God for people like Robert Greenleaf, who in 1970 brought Servant Leadership into the realm of business and other secular fields of interest with his book, “The Servant as Leader.” Later on, he published his famous work on Servant Leadership. But I must tell you it sounds a lot like he read this passage in Luke. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was the greatest example of Servant Leadership in history. He didn’t just talk a good game, He also walked the walk. Today, decide to leave the way of the world behind, and choose “The Jesus Way” instead.
When I yielded my life to you as a young adult, I know You were asking for more than just serving You. I knew it meant Servant Leadership for everyone I came in contact with. That’s the way it’s always been. “The Jesus Way!” Amen
