Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
St. Paul gave the Roman saints the background story to the former hold sin had on their life. Then, in this passage, he gave all of us the truth that the payment for our sin is death. However, “The Gift Of God” is eternal life through His Son Jesus.
Never do I want to operate on the idea that because I’m a good person, God has embraced me. Nothing could be further from the truth. Earlier in this same book, St. Paul said, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That’s it! ALL have sinned! That includes you, and that also includes me! So the idea that somehow we are just good people is incorrect. Only by His grace does He accept my repentance for sin, and then He comes into my heart and life by the power of the Holy Spirit. On my own, I have no righteousness. But through His grace, He has clothed me in His righteousness. “The Gift Of God” in this passage is what I hold most dear in my life. It is God’s gift of ETERNAL LIFE. In my life, there has been nothing more satisfying than having peace with God.
When I was lost and doomed to death, You rescued me. Because of “The Gift Of God,” I now have ETERNAL LIFE. Because of that, I will march into this new day with a purpose for living. Amen
